Major in Earth and Space Sciences |

Introduction The field of earth and space sciences is a broadly based multidisciplinary science combining geology, astronomy, atmospheric science and marine science. The major in earth and space sciences leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree and is a diversified program in the natural sciences and mathematics aimed at fostering a basic understanding of the earth and space sciences; it also includes concentrated study in any one of the natural sciences or mathematics or interdisciplinary studies in environmental geoscience. |

The Earth and Space Sciences major has two programs of study.
Course requirements-ESS Major Below is a list of courses offered within the Department of Geosciences. Please contact the appropriate undergraduate program director or advisor for a list of which courses are required for either of the major tracks in Earth and Space Sciences or see the pdf version Stony Brook Undergraduate Bulletin-ESS. All courses offered for the major must be passed with a letter grade of C or higher. Completion of the major requires approximately 61 to 72 credits.
